LARGE HARD EDGE GLASS ART COMMISSIONS
‘Orchid Bloom’
SIZE 18" by 18" | SQUARE PANEL ON CUSTOM STAND
The collector’s inspiration:
"I’m very curious to see if any of my paintings could translate into your medium.
Would love to see if maybe one of my molecular series or even one of my earliest … rainbow lattice could work. They’d look so beautiful catching the sunlight.”
Linda’s vision:
Matthew’s original design really appealed. It was a challenge to see how to turn an ink artwork into a glass one.
It was full of strong colours and contrasts - I knew it’d look good in glass.
Everything needed to be transparent to go in front of a window, so no opaque glass was used.
There were some very complex shapes - Super-slow to cut, intensely precise, hold-your-breath kind of work. So it was exciting to see it all fit together so well.
Producing the work has had over a million views.
The collector said:
“It’s gorgeous! As the sun shifts during the day, I love the way the light changes what your eye focuses on in the piece. I knew that my painting would work well in this medium and now I’m inspired to push this further and see where it can go …”
“The entire process was really wonderful. Thank you”
'Shangri-La'
SIZE 20" by 14" | WALL PANEL
The collector’s inspiration:
"I love the mountains especially the Himalayas.
I did the Annapurna circuit via the Thorong La Pass. Went up to over 17,000 feet. I also trekked in Tibet and circumnavigated the holy mountain of Kalish.
I love glass. It will be on a wall opposite a large window. I have a dichroic glass sculpture in this room and glass mosaics. So I thought a fused glass piece would fit in."
Linda’s vision:
This wasn’t a recreation of a photograph, but of 'the best bits' - so the design was based on the best views of the Annapurna circuit - the mountains, the rhododendron trees, the sky - all amazing. It must have been fantastic to see it!
I created nine versions of the composite design first, to make sure I properly understood what she imagined.
I was delighted when she said “I love them all. Can I get a mixture? I like the blue mountains better with the lighter blue sky.”
The hardest part was getting the right glass colours for the rhododendrons, colour that worked with the picture and still looked natural.
I also loved the challenge of getting the depth of field from near to far, just with colour.
The collector said:
“Thank you again for my wonderful Shangri-La. I absolutely love it.
You are a great artist.”
‘Mono Lisa’
SIZE 11" | MEDIUM ROUNDEL & MINIATURE ON STANDS
The collector’s inspiration:
"Can you do this in black and white?"
After seeing my recent portrait work, Lisa asked if I could develop a Face design in black and white only.
She showed me photos of her home in Maryland which had a strikingly modern monochrome black & white look throughout - quite unusual and very sophisticated.
She explained how she wanted the artwork to match the monochrome theme of her home, with absolutely none of my usual vivid colours.
She also wanted to listen to music while enjoying the artwork. So we planned an accompanying Miniature complete with the Spotify code for Chaka Khan’s ‘Love Me Still’, so all she had to do was click her phone over the Miniature and listen to this beautiful pop song while enjoying the much larger Roundel original.
Linda’s vision:
With my colour background, I thought it was a bold move to create a monochrome piece as a commission.
But it felt like an amazing idea to get involved with.
It was a genuine "artistic struggle" at first to find 60+ monochrome pieces of art glass, that fitted together "like colours might" and still do justice to Lisa's dramatic concept.
Happily my Design Process always starts with a Line Version of the work. This way I get the black & white architecture right before I ever splash any colour on.
I felt Lisa also enjoyed being part of the social media buzz that creating a new work of mine can generate.
We even held an Instagram poll to get suggestions for a name for the work.
"Mono Lisa" was easily Lisa's favourite :)
The collector said:
“This came out absolutely beautiful and I’m so happy with my custom piece and the book you included with it is a perfect complement.”
She also left this Trustpilot review:
"From the beginning to the end, the communication was there. The collaboration was great. Everything was a great experience.”
'Orchids'
SIZE: 10" by 20" | MEDIUM WALL PANEL
The collector’s inspiration:
After seeing some of my botanical work from last summer, a returning collector asked if I could create a wall panel of orchids.
She started by sending over photos of real orchids she liked, whether for the shape or the colour.
She said “For the orchids I would like the white ones with the maroon center. I like the rounded petals. And can you make them not straight on, one turned just a little one way, the other slightly the other.”
Linda’s vision:
I’ve grown Orchids in my glass studio for many years - they are certainly one of my favorite plants because of their striking shapes.
And their colours lend themselves well to art glass - there’s a wide ranging palette from the deep purples and burgundies, through strong orange for accents, then the different yellows up to creams and whites. You can almost smell the colours!
The initial designs I sent were much more colourful - and not quite right for her yet. But they helped her imagine what she really wanted - a much darker background, including some black.
From this approach, I was able to help her finalise her choices.
The collector said:
"Thank you, Linda. I can’t wait to see it on the spot I have saved on my wall."
‘Alluring Montage’
SIZE 7" x 21" | TALLBOY ON STAND
The collector’s inspiration:
The collector, a well-known Midwest glass art collector and connoisseur of repute, approached me with an idea for a Miniature around one of my Face themes. In the detailed and extensive discussions that followed he ultimately decided on three pieces fused together as a column, complete with a custom stand to present the work as a whole, and not just as individual images.
He said "I would prefer the black glass frame version. I feel it adds drama and really makes the colors pop!"
What a challenge!
Linda’s vision:
To create three parts of a face, one on top of the other, and bring them together as a single work would excite any commissioning artist.
I hope I did it justice.
The collector said:
"The piece looks absolutely beautiful!
It was a true pleasure working with you. I really appreciate all your efforts. I will enjoy this piece for many years to come.
Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year!"
'Strelitzia and Sakura'
SIZE: 12.5" | MEDIUM ROUNDEL & 2 MINIATURES ON ACRYLIC STANDS
The collector’s inspiration:
She said "Hello! I am interested in commissioning a Fruit & Flowers piece for our 4th wedding anniversary!
I am thinking a circular piece, blue and green background with a stand. His favorite flower is birds of paradise (strelitzia) but he also likes orchids and I like cherry blossom (sakura). However, I think I would like to just showcase the birds of paradise, but am open to ideas! I love watching your videos."
Linda’s vision:
After looking at all her options, she further included two extra Miniatures to the project, to do the orchid and cherry blossoms more justice.
As it happens, I've been growing Strelitzias and Orchids for years, so it was with great joy that I was able to deliver on my promise.
The collector said:
She kindly left me a 5-star Trustpilot review:
"My floral glass project is absolutely stunning! The craftsmanship is exceptional - the colors are vibrant yet elegant, and the way the light plays through the glass brings the design to life. Every detail feels thoughtfully created, making it both eye-catching and timeless. Working with Linda was an equally wonderful experience: she was professional, responsive, and truly cared about bringing my vision to life. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and would highly recommend Linda’s work to anyone looking for a truly special, one-of-a-kind piece."

‘Gardening’
SIZE 14" x 27.5" | WALL PANEL
The collector’s inspiration:
This work, ‘Gardening’ and its companion ‘The Sea’ were done in response to a collector who wanted to commemorate her late parents.
Her mother particularly liked irises. The decision was whether to go for a broader garden view, or go into something more abstract and “irisy”. As you can see the more abstract interpretation won out hands down.
Linda’s vision:
This has become one of my most popular works and I'm delighted to say, has already led to two further botanical commissions.
I felt a deep passion when producing this work. There’s something I can't explain the quiet satisfaction I felt every time I worked on these vivid and brilliant colours. For example, the natural iris purple evolved into becoming a blue as it felt so much stronger.
The collector said:
"It looks beautiful - I am delighted! I am also pleased that you are happy with it."
'The Sea'
SIZE: 14" x 27.5" | WALL PANEL
The collector’s inspiration:
This the second part of a wall panel diptych along with ‘Gardening’. The collector's father was at sea a lot and brought her home massive shells and conches from tropical shores, which she still has.
What a special memory.
Interestingly the collector is the Emerita Artist in Residence at Chester Cathedral in the UK, so I was very honoured to be selected by a noted artist, who must have plenty of artist friends to choose from.
Linda’s vision:
Drawing shells which are almost perfect Fibonacci spirals was really exciting. It surprised me how satisfying they were to draw, as they gave me the opportunity to subsequently cut lots of nice long thin curves.
The collector said:
"These beautiful works in fused glass will take pride of place in my new home!!"
"Working with Linda was a dream. She is so professional, a wonderful artist, and seems to be a very good person. My custom art sits proudly in my home where I can enjoy it every day.
I’m so happy to own a piece of her work."
