LARGE FUSED GLASS ART COMMISSIONS

'Butterflies & wine'
It started with a message:
"She just loves your work. Always showing me the glass you produce - we just love it.
The bigger the better. Bright and colourful, with butterflies ... and maybe a glass of white wine."
That message became this fused glass artwork.
‘Butterflies & Wine’ was made in secret as a 40th birthday gift for someone who had been following me for years.
Butterflies for her mum.
Sauvignon Blanc for their memories.
What an absolute joy to create something so full of love! ☺️

'Flamboyance'
A returning customer wrote asking "Do you have pinks? What do you think about doing a flamingo?"
How could I refuse such a challenge?!
As you see, the mounted panel is complemented by a flamingo head Miniature.

'Cobalt Cathedral'
One of my most popular works is 'Wells', an architectural piece based on the ancient Saxon cathedral in Wells, Somerset.
An existing client, who was gradually buying larger and larger pieces from me, asked if I could reimagine 'Wells' in cooler colours from the original.
We came up with Cobalt - and a completely different perspective view of one of my favourite works!

'Chequer' roundel
Out of the blue I received an email:
"I'd like to reimagine your Chequer with more cobalt. My favorite colors are the Caribbean blues, especially the dark ones and peridot green. I have my hair colored a dark grape purple. My car is bright lime green. I love color! I’m an artist."
It's always special to Reimagine one of my best-loved works. It's like watching a family grow. We all have the same surname, but we're all different!

'Jungle for Magdalena'
This work was intended for a family to cherish the memory a young artist member who'd recently passed.
Working with the whole family, her husband, sister and parents, we created a design that works in glass - while still keeping faith with her original artwork.
They said "It is amazing! ... Thank you Linda. It was a pleasure working with you!"

'Landscape Window'
My Brittany client returned for a second piece - a window in his TV lounge.
The inspiration he gave me was absolutely perfect for my style - he showed me two original acrylics hanging on his wall, both by Jinsheng You, a modern Chinese landscape artist.
Working within a similar palette to Jinsheng, I designed a large abstract window, comprising two large panels that fit seamlessly for a full landscape window effect.

'Biarritz Diptych'
This glass artwork consists of two fused glass panels, designed to complement each other, and work perfectly together. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts!
The design was inspired by the architecture in Biarritz, France, giving the feeling of water and geometric buildings in the sunshine. I've always loved Hockney's depiction* of swimming pool water, so this also influenced the look of the pool.

'Floral'
This was a birthday gift to his wife.
He said: "I found you on Instagram and absolutely love the work you do. I wanted to reach out about commissioning a piece for my wife in a style similar to her favorite art / artist but tailored to her as a Christmas / 40th birthday present."
This was my first ever floral roundel, all curves, no easy straight lines!

'Orangerie'
Orangerie is a memory of warmer times and places captured in a large glass art roundel.
Inspired by my visits to glass houses across Europe, it captures the feeling of a tropical glass house, with its wide variety of lush vibrant green plants.
This is the moment I wanted to capture - smell, heat, air, colour, lushness, light - the moment you walk in the door!

'Gallery montage'
Everybody has a favourite memory, or a personal story they want to tell through art.
You have a treasured feeling, a deeply held story from some special moment in your life, a story that deserves visualising.
Commemorating the events, memories, milestones or special moments in your life is now possible through the medium of a glass art montage.
The example seen here, Gallery, is a World First in glass art - five people and three art pieces conceived as a single montaged artwork.

'Gaze'
Gaze, renamed by the customer as 'Yearning' is an original composition in Hard Edge glass roundel form.
It's designed to stand out across a large room.
Even at a distance, its incredible intricacy and integrated vision will be appreciated.
Its unusual power generates comment and conversation.
Its form and expression is both intriguing and engaging.
"What is she really thinking?"

'Wells'
This glass roundel is inspired by the ancient arches of Wells Cathedral, situated in the county of Somerset, in the heart of Wessex.
The soaring Cathedral architecture is powerfully reimagined in vivid modern glass. It has a strong geometric design, with extraordinary arches in a mix of reds and oranges.
"Working with Linda was a dream. She is so professional, a wonderful artist, and seems to be a very good person. My custom art sits proudly in my home where I can enjoy it every day.
I’m so happy to own a piece of her work."

'Chicka Chicka Awards'
A Canadian illustrator's latest book had just ascended into the New York Times bestseller list.
To celebrate, he asked for a series of six large Miniatures to present as individually engraved awards to his literary colleagues throughout North America.
I thought this was a wonderful gesture to complement the "usual thank yous" normally seen in a book's fly leaf!

'Couleurs de St Barth'
A present from a French client to his colleague in Saint Barthélemy, a beautiful little Caribbean island.
I had to work in a rush to be in time for a pre-arranged visit, but we got there! We based it on the original 'Swirls' bowl.
I like to feel my glass colours captured the magic of the sparkling Caribbean.

'Bristol balloons'
Did you know there's a famous Balloon Fiesta held in Bristol every year that's been going on for almost 50 years?
My client has a powerful memory of this event, seeing all the magnificent hot air balloons soaring effortlessly up into the sky - from back when he was a university student there.
He wanted to bring it back to life on one of his walls, the way he remembered, in all it's colour and glory.
This was my first set of balloons.
"I love how you asked for, and then followed, my input about the piece I wanted and THEN drew up 3 separate designs for me to choose from which went way and above what I expected.
You have been wonderful to, I hate to say “deal” with, because that falls short of how my experience with you went.
I feel that it was more of a collaboration together.
Thank you so much, I love them both!"

''Rainbowl'
Already a keen collector of my glass art, the client saw my small square rainbow bowls, and immediately commissioned a much larger round one to add to her personal art collection.
"Love, love, love my rainbow glass dish so much. Great quality & attention to detail."

'Stairs 2'
The original 'Stairs' was large and expensive, so the client asked if I could do one a bit smaller.
To get there, I completely reimagined all the colours while keeping close to the original design elements.
She said "Oh my gosh, everything is so beautiful!! More beautiful than I imagined!"

'Floral coasters'
A set of 4 Floral coasters, Reimagined from my Floral Roundel.
I created 8, and the client chose her favourites!
"Beautiful artwork; great communication; very good packaging (purchased several items and no damage); and great communication."

'Chequer'
This Hard Edge art glass sculpture is an original geometric design with black and white chequers. Coming amid vivid bursts of strong curved colours, it makes a really striking piece of fused glass artwork.
It holds the record as my most Reimagined work to date, in response to requests like “I love the original. Can I have another one like it please?”

'Earrings'
Earrings is a gorgeous portrait in a unique fused glass roundel form.
They say that the soul is read through the eyes, and the rest follows.
But quite unlike the Mona Lisa, this face NEVER looks at you 🙂
Her mood is both fascinating yet indecipherable. She’s an enigma.

'Chequer bowl'
This Art Glass bowl, a vibrant geometric design with black and white chequers, is a really striking piece of fused glass artwork.
Designed in my unique Hard Edge Glass style, it's a one-off piece of glass art, filling any space with colour and light.

'Swirls' bowl
What the client asked for: "This piece is going into my living room which has a lot of red, but I want something to replace all the items on my small table. I don’t think things have to match. I just want a dramatic touch of blue in the space."
"I worked with Linda on a bowl to get the colors just right. It worked out just right!"

'Floral 2'
My client wanted to gift his wife 'the experience of working with me' on a roundel - as an artistic partnership.
She's a discerning lady with a very clear vision and lots of ideas, so I had to work hard to get everything exactly as she wanted, but it was well worth it, as the final Floral roundel and 2 miniatures make a striking focal point in the room.
Afterwards she said "I must say Billy really hit it out of the park when choosing an item from you as my 50th birthday gift. "

'Gaze' Miniatures
The client said: "I would love to have a set of pieces with your full creative liberty. The only thing I ask is that I get some eyes and lips, like in the “set of four” picture. Other than that I fully trust you and your process."
Once he saw the designs he said "Oh my good lord! You are absolutely amazing! I’m so in love already. I can already see them on my wall! IM IN LOOOOOVE!"
"Well, I am just ecstatic about how they came out!! They are just so beautiful, and I love the stands!
Thank you so much for your hard work on these…I will treasure them forever!! I feel lucky to have some of your beautiful work in my home!!
Have a great day, and thank you again!!"
