This month I've completed an exciting new hot air balloon commission!
Imagine: a series of fused glass hot air balloons, in various sizes, all brightly coloured.
The client owns a 2D silhouette of the Bristol skyline on his wall.
He wanted vividly coloured glass hot air balloons to hover and float above the city skyscape. I love this imagination! Such possibilities!
The idea is inspired by the Bristol International balloon fiesta - an annual event since 1979, growing year on year to become Europe's largest annual hot air balloon festival. This year there'll be over 100 balloons.
I've just created twelve glass ones - and I think they look fantastic!

Bristol skyline reimagined with glass hot air balloons
The client said "They all arrived safe and are looking beautiful 😍"
Created from 176 small pieces of glass, fused together in my kiln, each balloon is uniquely designed with a specific colour scheme that makes it stand out in the sky.
Each mounted on the wall with a single screw, they make a wonderful splash of colour across any room in your home.
Below are some of the videos I made during production. You can always see my latest glass art videos on my Instagram account, @GlassArtbyLinda
If you'd like a set like this, in rainbow or to match your home decor, I make them to order. Please see the details of the fused glass hot air balloons here.
